I joined Real Life Fitness in the fall of 2017 and have been coming consistently ever since. Losing weight and being more physically fit motivated me to start at RLF, however, I have gotten so much more out of this community than I could have ever anticipated. I’ve lost 30 pounds, started lifting weights, set and reached goals, and have built friendships along the way. More importantly though, I have started to live a much healthier and balanced lifestyle that will last for years to come.

Real Life Fitness keeps me coming back each week. It’s never a chore to come to the gym because the positive and lively atmosphere is great and I am confident I will get a good workout in every single day. I love how the workouts are less than an hour, they are never the same, and they challenge me both mentally and physically. I also love how each trainer is different and has their own style. They set up different types of workouts, play different music, and motivate me in different ways. Their realistic approach to health and fitness promotes a balanced lifestyle and keeps you wanting to come back.

I’ve grown a lot since I started at RLF and look forward to what’s to come.

It all started IN DECEMBER 2017

What motivated you to start?
I could see I was gaining weight, I wasn’t happy with my physical appearance.

What were some of your goals when you started?
Lose weight, eat healthy, feel better.

What are your goals now?
Maintain. I really like where I am. I would like to build more muscle too.

What have been your greatest achievements?
I lost 40 lbs! 225 lbs February 2017– 185 lbs, currently.
I can now do multiple pull-ups without a band.

What were/are your biggest struggles?
Eating right. I definitely have a sweet tooth, and I love beer.

What advice would you give to new members?
Come as often as possible. Even if you can’t give 100% every time, just show up and do as much as you can. Also, diet is SUPER important. Eat a balanced diet with reasonably sized portions. Keep sugar and alcohol to a minimum.

What are your 3 favorite things about RLF?
I like how the workouts are all different.
I like the size of the class.
I like the people that work/workout here.

It all started IN June 2018

Although I don’t focus on the number on the scale, I still look at it everyday to see if I can identify healthy vs unhealthy habits.

I’m only down 8lbs but my body fat is decreasing & I’m losing inches. I’m pushing myself to lift more.

Real Life Fitness is my happy place.

It all started at the end of DECEMBER 2017

What motivated you to start?
I was introduced to RLF by friends that really loved what RLF was doing and they thought I would too. After just one class, I knew that it was going to be something that would keep my attention and having friends there would be the motivation I needed to keep going.

What were some of your goals when you started?
I just wanted to get back into shape and to reposition some of the weight I had added. Over the last 5 or so years I had slowly stopped working out and I really struggled finding motivation to do so. Additionally, I had gotten into craft beer about the same time which just compounded things.

What are your goals now?
After a year at RLF, going 3-4 times per week, I have accomplished my initial goals and am now starting to concentrate on getting leaner while still building muscle.

What have been your greatest achievements?
For me, the greatest accomplishment is the dedication I have developed over the last year. I knew I would accomplish my goals if I could first build the habit of going to class.

What were/are your biggest struggles?
Carving out the time to go to class which was and still can be tricky with my family dynamic.

What advice would you give to new members?
The first step is giving it a try. Once you start and get into the routine, you will begin to see the results you are looking for. All the classes can be catered to every level of fitness so there is no need to feel intimidated.

What are your 3 favorite things about RLF?
1. The variety in the exercises and types of workouts.
2. Class atmosphere and size.
3. RESULTS!!!

Meet: Christos

It all started IN 2016

What motivated you to start?
I’ve worked out on and off for years, but as I got older (turning 50 this year), the effect of not working out had dramatic effects on me in a negative way.

What were some of your goals when you started?
I initially only wanted to get stronger and build stamina, help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, not really focused on actual weight.

What are your goals now?
Now I want to get to a consistent weight that supports lower blood pressure.

What have been your greatest achievements?
I’m at the same weight I was at 25 years old. I’m less than 10lbs away from my high school weight.

What were/are your biggest struggles?
My biggest struggle is food management.

What advice would you give to new members?
This is a marathon not a sprint, be consistent and don’t look for instant results. Start small and build up slowly.

What are your 3 favorite things about RLF?
The trainers are amazing! The variety of workouts keeps you well balanced and keeps you from getting bored.
